Burlesque Round-up for Feb. 27, 2014

This week’s top story: Burlesque is making a comeback! Aren’t you glad? The Associated Press went to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, someone talked to Trixie Minx down in New Orleans, and now it’s big news—burlesque is BACK!

The full version ran in the Miami Herald—and then versions of the story, some with video, ran in the Washington Post, in Atlanta, Texarkana, Minnesota, and weirdly, Montreal and Vancouver. And then it got picked up by HuffPo. (Naturally. Because there’s a better chance of seeing Adriana in a burlesque show than seeing a reporter get paid.)

In New York, the Coney Island Spring Gala is back at Webster Hall.

In Vegas, Selene Luna brings out her Dog and Pony Show.  Or, the X Burlesque show is still going strong… (I can hear the grinding of burlesque teeth everywhere).

More Big Lebowski, this time in Portland. And there’s burlesque in Memphis!?

Check it—a whole new twist on Burlesque on Ice! (This one’s in New Orleans).  And if you get to Austin early for SXSW, be sure to check out the Spring Fling Burlesque with Melody Mangler all the way from Vancouver.

And if you’re in Vancouver, you can win 2 free tix to the Van Dolls show.

In the UK, some bloke (that’s UK for “dude”) talks about his experience in burlesque,

If you haven’t seen the movie Exposed, and you live in the UK, you can watch it here. Of course if you’re in NYC, come see it a MoMa on Monday with BurlesqueBeat.

Dita Von Teese got digitally altered to an extreme degree.

In Oz, Moira Finucane’s Glory Box comes to Adelaide.
