Burlesque Weekly-ish Round-up for May 29, 2014

petition against Facebook in Manchester. Good luck with that.

New York: The Boylesque Fest happened. Michelle L’Amour brought Pretty Funny to Gotham, while Stand Up and Take Your Clothes Off continues to knock ’em dead.  Brown Girls Burlesque got their Beyonce on, and the 2nd Annual Asian Burlesque Fest went off. And the Mermaid Parade is around the corner, with Mayorial siblings as king and queen. Shameless is coming to Drom, and Nathan Lane’s The Nance will be broadcast on PBS.

Vegas: Holly Madison really does have the best PR ever, and Bourbon and Burlesque is open. X Burlesque is still… doing its thing.

LA: Lucha VaVoom rocked the house yet again, Treklesque is back,

Chicago: Gorilla Tango Burlesque lowered their ticket prices; and the Windy City Fest returns.

Elsewhere in the U.S.: Amish Burlesque in Pittsburgh, Funtime in Omaha, Fantasy Island in Connecticut, a festival in Virginia, plus Boylesque in Fort Collins, Colorado, Hubba Hubba in SF, Marilyn in Phoenix—pix here, a new “brown” burlesque troupe in NOLA, something in Tennessee, and Bq-sponsored Self Defense in Seattle (for reals)

Canada: The Vancouver Fest shook it all down, and there was a Strip Search in Toronto.

UK: The X Factor is ASKING burlesque acts to audition, and the Spiegeltent is back until June 7 for the Harrogate Festivals. Boylesque is popping in Manchester, and in Bath the Twisted Cabaret.

Oz: Empire Strips Back in Sydney; review here.

Carnivalesque Roadshow in Baltimore

And apparently there’s a festival coming to Lake Como.
